How to choose and personalise a mug
Adding your name or message
Start by choosing your design. On the fine bone china mugs you'll also pick a size, Standard (275ml) or Large (425ml). Then type a name, initials or short message into the personalisation box on the product page. You have up to 15 characters including spaces, and emojis can't be used. The personalisation cost is shown on each product page, and it's worth checking the spelling before you add the mug to your basket.
Fine bone china or stoneware
The fine bone china mugs are hand decorated and finished in the UK, and most are boxed for gifting or presented in a Sophie Allport gift box, which makes them easy to give. Most are microwave and dishwasher safe; use a gentle cycle and keep the water below 40 degrees. If you prefer a bigger brew, the stoneware mugs hold 500ml, measure H 11 x W 15 x D 12cm and have a coloured rim. Some have a different illustration on each side: the Lobster & Crab Stoneware Mug has a blue lobster on the front and a red crab on the back, and the Coastal Boats Stoneware Mug shows different sailing boats front and back.
Designs for everyone
Country lovers can choose Highland Stag, Flying Pheasant, Garden Birds, Cows, Farm Animals or Chicken & Egg. Bees comes in several styles, including the Bees Coloured Mug and the Bees Solo Mug. Flower lovers might pick Wild Floral or Tulips, dog owners the Doggy Daycare Stoneware Mug, and seaside fans Lobster, Coastal Birds or the Coastal Boats Scene Mug. At Christmas, look at Holly & Berry, Snowy Cottage, Home for Christmas, Festive Forest, Christmas Dogs and Christmas Stags.
Pair a mug with a matching name on one of our personalised tea towels, add a keepsake from our personalised baubles, see every personalised gift, or browse plain stoneware and china mugs.
Frequently asked questions
Every mug in this collection takes up to 15 characters including spaces. That fits a first name, a nickname, initials or a short message such as a family name. Emojis can't be used. Type your text into the personalisation box on the product page and double-check the spelling before ordering.
The stoneware mugs are microwave and dishwasher safe. Most fine bone china mugs are microwave and dishwasher safe too. For fine bone china, don't overload the dishwasher, keep the water below 40 degrees and use a gentle, short or china and crystal cycle. Check the care guide on each product page.
Every fine bone china mug on this page comes in Standard (275ml) or Large (425ml), and you choose the size on the product page. The stoneware mugs come in one size: they hold 500ml and measure H 11 x W 15 x D 12cm, which suits anyone who likes a big mug of tea or coffee.
Most of the fine bone china mugs are boxed for gifting or presented in a Sophie Allport gift box, including Holly & Berry, Bees and Highland Stag. The stoneware mug descriptions don't mention a gift box, so check the product page if packaging matters for your gift.
Order as early as you can, since personalised items need a little extra time. This year's Christmas order-by dates will be published in our help centre. Standard delivery aims for 3-6 working days, with Next Day and Saturday delivery available when you order before 12 noon.
