Sophie Allport’s Feathered Friends - British Hen Welfare Trust

You know we love chickens at Sophie Allport since we have two chicken ranges, Chicken and Lay a Little Egg, which is why we are so eggscited to work alongside and support the British Hen Welfare Trust.

The British Hen Welfare Trust is the country’s first dedicated chicken charity, which was set up in 2005 and has rehomed over 760,000 commercial laying hens, which have been saved from slaughter and found forever homes, thanks to the charity.

Chicken Mug British Hen Welfare Trust

Using Sophie Allport’s classic Chicken & Egg design, Sophie has written the message ‘Happy Hens’ on the inside rim of their very own limited edition mug, which will be available to buy from their online shop on 1st March with all proceeds going towards helping the charity with its rehoming work.

Jane Howorth MBE, founder of the BHWT said: “We’re really excited to be launching this limited-edition mug for our supporters, for Sophie Allport fans and for hen lovers alike. But most of all, these mugs are for the chickens as every penny we raise from these sales will help us make even more hens happy by giving them the chance to enjoy a free-range future.

She continued: “Unsurprisingly, we’re all huge Sophie Allport fans in our office. Between us we probably own the entire chicken range so we’re all getting very excited at having a new item to purchase to make our chicken set complete!”

Sophie is also supporting the trust later on in the Summer when the charity will be officially launching its new Hen Welfare, Education and Visitor Centre.

Sophie Allport Chicken Collection

Sophie Allport said: “Our Chicken collection has been one of our best-selling ranges since the moment it launched. We’re always looking to add new products and designs, and what better than a limited-edition BHWT mug. We’ve supported the work of the charity for a long time, and love to think that the sale of these bespoke mugs will go towards their life-saving work. We know that our customers will love the idea that their purchase will help send lots of special hens on their way to enjoy life outside of a cage for the first time. There will only be 1,000 mugs available though, so people will need to move quickly!”

The Happy Hens Mug can be purchased at https://shop.bhwt.org.uk/ from 1st March 2020. Do you have any hens? We’d love to hear all about them, let us know in the comments below.

  • I had 3 beautiful girls from the BHWT; Flo, Lily and Glad. Sadly all of my girls have gone to the Rainbow Bridge now, but I was so lucky to have had so many wonderful years with them. I still miss them every day. Chickens really are the most fantastic creatures and my girls were fabulous!

  • We have just rescued Marigold, Bluebell and Daisy and they have settled in so well! My 2 other hens Rosie and Tina have been great and welcomed them into their home. They are all so funny, with such different characters, they make me laugh every day! 😍🐔❤️
