Forest Fruits Crumble Recipe

We’re celebrating the fruits of the forest with this ever so simple crumble recipe! It makes an excellent dessert served with ice cream, custard or cream and is sure to be a pleaser at the dinner table.

Forest Fruits Crumble Recipe

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 25 minutes

Serves 6

Ingredients

  • 100g plain flour
  • 50g rolled oats
  • 100g butter
  • 50g light brown soft sugar, plus a little extra if needed
  • 500g berries or summer fruit, defrosted or fresh
  • 3 tbsp ground almonds
  • 60g flaked almonds (optional)
  • Ice cream, custard or cream, to serve

Forest Fruits Crumble Recipe

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6.
  2. Add your flour, oats, butter cubes and sugar to a bowl, and using your fingers, squash together to make a crumble texture. 
  3. Sprinkle your crumble mixture over a baking tray and bake for approximately 10 minutes, stirring and breaking up halfway through cooking. 
  4. Once cooked. Stir through your flaked almonds (if using).
  5. Whilst your crumble top is cooking, you should sprinkle ground almonds over the base of an ovenproof dish, then spoon your selected fruit on top. If your berries are sour, then sprinkle over some brown sugar to sweeten. 
  6. Once your crumble mixture is ready, sprinkle it over the fruit and bake for 15 mins.
  7. Rest for 5 mins before serving with ice cream, custard, or cream.
