Q&A With Holly from The Rapids Cottage

Have you ever wondered where our photoshoots take place? Well, all over the country, and most recently, we visited The Rapids Cottage, situated in the picturesque Symonds Yat, to photograph and film our new cosy campaign. This beautiful location was the perfect match, a setting filled with charm, character and comfort, a place to enjoy the little things in life, as well as showcase all of our cosy comforts, which is everything you need to embrace the season. We caught up with the lovely Holly to find out all about The Rapids Cottage.

Tell us a little bit about The Rapids Cottage?

We stumbled across the The Rapids Cottage in 2019. We are local and often visited Symonds Yat but had never noticed the cottage, perched on the cliffs of the stunning Wye Valley. We are rural romantics and were already sold before we reached the cottage, by the ancient woodlands that encircles the hideaway. The Rapids Cottage was built in 1850, and we wanted to bring out its voice and make it a true home from home, hygge escape; full of the simple luxuries of life. Designed to unwind and reconnect, our retreat is a sanctuary perfect for a romantic break, woodland escape with children or a friends country retreat.

What’re your favourite features about the cottage?

Outside, but which point we cannot choose:

We love the balcony, where you can sit and sip your morning coffee while watching the mist rising from the river below to reveal the most breathing taking views.

Dinner with friends on the deck, which is lit with festoon lights and surrounded by birdsong.

After a long day exploring, we love sinking back into the frankly rustic extravagance that is the 4 person chemical-free, tin hot tub. We chose it as it blends so perfectly with the surrounding beauty of the natural world and is perfect for stargazing.

Favourite Sophie Allport design?

Woodland - but maybe we are biased

Favourite Sophie Allport product?

So much to choose from - the lovely woodland walks candles smell so beautiful. But we love the picnic rucksack. It allows family picnics (we have a 3 and 1-year-old) by the river, or after a trek to the famous pinnacle of Yat Rock. Sophie obviously understands the importance of snacks, with room for a bottle of something delightful for mum and dad.
