We caught up with the lovely team from Country Chic, our Stockist of the Month for March. Located in the beautiful Cornish town Launceston, Country Chic provides a beautiful range of gift inspiration, homewares and interiors!
Tell us a bit about your shop...
Country Chic provides gift inspiration, unique homewares and interior pieces that transform your house into a home. Bringing a rustic charm with a contemporary twist, many of our customers have said: “I could just move in.”
We have created a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere within our spacious lifestyle store and offer interior touches for any style with a strong "Country Chic" vibe of painted furniture, cosy throws, chunky wooden accessories, kitchen linens, quality candles and lamps. Along with a stylish selection of personal gifts - jazzy socks, scarves, jewellery, bags and soaps.
Independently owned by a local farming family, Country Chic’s ethos fits with that same attitude of the farming community to provide and serve their customers with good quality.
What do you love about being a shop owner?
The seasonal newness, the constant refreshing of stock and the lovely loyal customer base that we have created. We really enjoy and take pride in planning our window displays which our customers give us lovely compliments on.
Have you ever had any famous faces pop in?
George Alagiah, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Neil Warnock and an unverified sighting of Deborah Meaden!
Three words to describe your shop...
Beautiful, Charming and Inspirational
Tell us a bit about the place you are located...
Launceston is the ancient capital of Cornwall and still boasts a medieval South Gate and the ruins of a Norman Castle. Country Chic is located on the street that runs through the South Gate Arch itself. Lanson as the locals pronounce it is also known as the gateway to Cornwall, situated close to Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor and the coast.
Your favourite time of year in the shop?
Definitely the sparkly season... Christmas. We are known in the town for literally decking the whole two floors of the shop with Christmas delights that our customers love to buy. This year the town Mayor presented us with the Best Christmas window display award during late night shopping.
Your favourite moment in the shop?
Happiness - that moment when a customer is really genuinely thrilled with their purchase or inspired by completing one of our Annie Sloan Chalk Paint workshops. Or when our staff are excited by new stock arriving followed by a particularly great eclectic merchandising display - it's rewarding for the whole team when we are happy.
What first attracted you to Sophie Allport products?
Team Country Chic being lovers of all things farming and countryside were naturally drawn to the country animal designs of Sophie Allport's wonderful brand. It also provides us with a bone china option for our customers as the other crockery ranges we stock are pottery.
What is your favourite Sophie Allport collection?
The Hare range, a lovely traditional country animal design that stands the test of time - classic and timeless, and compliments the new SS22 launch of Boxing Hare that has just arrived at the shop!
