Choosing a tablecloth or table runner
Tablecloth sizes and shapes
Our rectangular linen tablecloths measure L 280 x W 168cm, including Olive, Lemons, Sage Green Gingham and the blue or sand stripe linens. Printed cotton tablecloths measure 280 x 152cm, in designs such as Wild Floral, Farm Friends and Orchard Birds, and the Garden Floral tablecloth also comes in a smaller 200 x 152cm size. For round tables, choose a 190cm round tablecloth in blue stripe linen, Chocolate Brown Gingham or embroidered Lemons, or the Garden Floral Frill Edge Round Tablecloth at 250cm across.
Table runners
Most of our table runners are 35cm wide and 280cm long, and many also come in a shorter 200cm length for smaller tables, including Bees, Wild Floral, Garden Floral, Olive and the gingham linens. The embroidered Lemons and Orchard Birds runners are 160cm long. On the Home for Christmas Border and Coastal Boats runners, the illustrations run around the border, so everyone at the table sees the scene the right way up.
Cotton or linen
Sophie's printed designs are mostly 100% cotton. Our linen pieces are either pure linen, such as the Sunflower and Teal Gingham runners, or an 80% linen, 20% cotton blend, such as Olive, Lemons and Chocolate Brown Gingham. Linen softens beautifully over time and may show natural slubs in the weave. Gingham comes in sage green, teal, warm stone and chocolate brown.
Care and matching linens
Wash tablecloths and runners at 30 degrees, and do not tumble dry or dry clean. The embroidered runners are spot clean only. Many designs have matching linens, so add napkins from our cotton and linen napkins and mats from our placemats and coasters. For the festive table, see our Christmas tablecloths and Christmas table runners.
Frequently asked questions
Measure your table first, then compare it with our sizes. Rectangular linen tablecloths are L 280 x W 168cm and printed cotton tablecloths are 280 x 152cm, with Garden Floral also in 200 x 152cm. Round tablecloths are 190cm across, and the Garden Floral Frill Edge Round Tablecloth is 250cm.
Yes. Choose from the blue stripe Round Linen Tablecloth in 100% linen, the Chocolate Brown Gingham Round Linen Tablecloth in an 80% linen, 20% cotton blend, or the Lemons Embroidered Round Tablecloth in cotton, all 190cm across. The Garden Floral Frill Edge Round Tablecloth is cotton with a frilled edge.
Wash our linen and linen-blend tablecloths at 30 degrees with similar colours, and do not tumble dry or dry clean them. Linen is known for its strength and will soften beautifully over time. Natural slubs in the weave are part of the fabric, and colour and pattern may vary slightly.
Our runners are 35cm wide. The long length is 280cm and many designs also come in a short 200cm length, which suits a smaller table. The Lemons and Orchard Birds embroidered runners are a shorter 160cm and should be spot cleaned only, so they suit occasions as well as everyday meals.
Many do. Hare, Chicken and Highland Stag runners have matching placemats and napkins, the Robin Neutral runner matches its napkins and placemats, and Wild Floral, Olive, Lemons and Garden Floral come as both runners and tablecloths, so you can coordinate the whole table.
