Mother’s Day is fast approaching! Rather than presenting her with tired flowers or chocolates (again), why don’t you do something a little more thoughtful this year? Don’t worry – it’s not as hard to come up with a generous, special present as you might think…and we promise not to tell her it was our idea!
Afternoon tea outing
Every mum will love a mug of steaming hot tea and a platter of cakes, and our favourite local destination is the beautiful Orangery at Burghley House in Stamford. Find somewhere close to you and book her an indulgent afternoon tea with sandwiches, scones, brownies and lemon drizzle cake! Why not go for a lovely walk beforehand to build up an appetite?
A magazine subscription
A cozy corner of the sofa, a class of wine and her favourite magazine sounds like just the way to help your mum relax this Mother’s Day! Why not find out what her best monthly read is? Whether it’s interior design, food, gardening, travel or something a little lighter (we’re not judging!), your mum will appreciate a glossy magazine arriving through the front door every month.
A membership to an evening class
Or how about gifting your mum a series of classes for something she’s always fancied doing? Lots of local colleges and universities offer public classes in arts and crafts, yoga, dance, DIY, languages, cookery, music and plenty of other things. The mums at Sophie Allport love this idea… time off from work and family, and an opportunity to spend some time on a passion just for her, is a really thoughtful present!
A day out for Gardeners
Green fingered mums will love a trip to RHS Wisley in Surrey. This Royal Horticultural Society location is undoubtedly one of the greatest gardens in the world, and will give avid (and novice!) gardeners plenty of inspiration. In the Midlands, consider a trip to Belvoir Castle and the amazing landscaping designed by Capability Brown. There’s plenty of places across the UK, so pack a picnic and make a day of it.
Why not take history-loving mums to a stately home like Chatsworth House? There are over thirty opulent rooms to explore with plenty of scandal, romance and drama to uncover along the way! We also love Belton House in Grantham and think it’s a great option for mums with young kids to entertain. In fact, why not buy your mum an annual membership to the National Trust this Mother’s Day? You’ll earn her free entry for a whole year!
Or finally, pick her some Sophie Allport favourites
Add to your Mum’s collection of Sophie Allport goodies in her favourite design or treat her to a relaxing scented candle, a new fine bone china mug or get crafting! Make her a personalised gift from our fabric or wrapping paper…doubtless she’ll love the extra effort you’ve gone to, and the fact it’s a unique one-off just for her!
Do you have any good Mother’s Day present suggestions to offer? We’d love to hear them!
